| Putting Away Your Holiday Decor |
 |
|
Getting out the holiday decorations and deciding
where to put them might seem like an easy task but
when it comes time to put everything away, you may
feel daunted. How should you organize them? Should
you discard items? How will you keep the decorations
from breaking? First of all, it's easy to store bulky
garlands in large plastic storage boxes. You can push
a lot into a big box, since there's nothing to break, and
they can be fluffed out the next year. Be sure to mark
every box clearly!
|
| More Tips for Holiday Storage |
 |
|
Keep Parts Together- It's convenient to be able to
find everything you need in one place when you're
getting out the decorations. You can tape a bag of
extra light bulbs to the end of the string of lights. Keep
the just-right length extension cord with your lit entry
decoration. Put your wreath hanger with your wreath
decorations. Keep the floor-protecting plastic with your
tree stand and tree skirt. If you have room, store
holiday placemats with holiday dishes.
Label It - Store and label items that go together as
groups to eliminate a lot of guess work next year. You
can even measure and mark important areas like the
center point, where special ornaments are to hang,
where to do a loop or drape etc.
Make an "Open First for Christmas" Box - There
are some things you might need earlier than others
when doing your holiday preparations. Things like the
tree stand, cards, cookie cutters, and gift wrapping
supplies can go in the "Open First for Christmas" box.
No more tearing through boxes in order to wrap that
first holiday gift! Make a Supplies Box - Use a
shoebox size plastic bin to store ornament hangers,
items needing repair, spare parts, etc. and keep it
handy in your "Open First for Christmas" box. You can
also add hooks, rolls of small ribbon, cording,
scissors, tags, twist ties, and craft wire. You'll have
everything in one place to replace broken ornaments
and freshen up current ones.

| Feng Shui Tip of The Month |
 |
|
For good luck, success and happiness in the
new year...
- Change the decoration on your front door each
season. This gesture not only keeps your entryway
looking attractive, it acknowledges the changes in
nature and helps align you with the earth cycles.
- Use a wooden headboard to promote growth in a
relationship. The wood element encourages
expansion and growth, so use this cure to attract a
partner or enliven an existing relationship.
- Wear red to attract fame and career success. This
dynamic fire color increases your chances of being
noticed. Wearing it also strengthens your self-
confidence and can help you push forward with your
career goals.
- Organize shoes neatly in your closet. Shoes are
symbols of support as well as our connection with the
ground. To attract a supportive and well-grounded
relationship, organize your shoes neatly. Get rid of
those that don't fit or that are worn, outdated, or
unappealing.

Happy New Year! My year has certainly started off
with a bang. After a nice, long holiday season with
family and friends, I am off and running with lots of
exciting new decorating projects.
The 2008 color of the year is BLUE. You know how
much I like blue since I selected it for my logo and
web site colors. Now, I plan to incorporate it into lots
of new projects, including paint and wallpaper
treatments, upholstery projects and
draperies.
My media frenzy continues and I was recently
interviewed by Boston Magazine. Be sure to read my
upcoming article in which I talk about my favorite
celebrities, my favorite pieces of furniture and my
favorite decorating hints of all times.
Until next time -- Happy Decorating!
