News from the Market! I just got back from the Market in High Point, North Carolina. The new word at market was SEXY.. everything was sexy...... fabric furniture, accessories... sexy was the new word for fabulous......

In addition to visiting the "sexy" market, I have been busy redoing my office. I've painted it an amazing shade of Chocolate brown. I am looking into getting a leopard fabric chair and some crystal lamps... I am also trying to decide what color to accessorize with. I am thinking about blue, or perhaps pink which is really pretty, design forward and cool. What about gold and earthtones to keep it classy as well as go well with animal print? Let me know what you think!

    Until next time, Happy Decorating!

    Revitalizing Your Home with Fabrics

One of this seasons trends is using fabrics to spice up your home. These are some trends in fabrics being shown in this season's home shows.

    • 100% Silk Taffeta provides a lavish look for windows.
    • Turquoise is the latest fashion forward color, ranging from aquamarine to teal.Turquoise can add life to dull room.
    • Silks are are hot and fabric houses have created a great line of luxurious faux silks, many with embroidery and details. This can take retail price down from $100+ a yard to less than $50 a yard and often much less.
    • Using novelty sheers is great for anyone who wants to use color to create airy and light window treatments.
    • Faux silk drapes in horizontal stripes or solids lend themselves to contemporary and transitional looks.
    • A sophisticated tropical is a great way to add color to a room.
    • Coordinating fabrics of the same color palette, perhaps a formal stripe, all-over dot and shimmery textured solid create a distinguished and dressy look to your window treatments.

Feng Shui Tip of The Month

In feng-shui, privacy is vital in creating a sense of well-being. Chances are you won't feel comfortable if you feel your neighbors are looking in on you. Make sure your window coverings, ornaments and plants screen others from looking into your home. Negative arrows directed into your home may be entering through windows - like rooftops, corners of buildings, or lamp posts. You may place a plant, vase or statue in your windowsill to help prevent them from entering. If you don't have a nice view out your window, using pretty drapes, curtains or swags may distract from the gloomy outlook.
