Parents are excited that kids are back in school this
time of year. Many of you have heard me talk about
my nephew Owen and my niece Charlotte. I am proud
to report that Owen has just started his first grade
year! Owen and Charlotte (who will be starting
Kindergarten next year) love to come and visit me. I
equally enjoy spending time with them, we take trips
to the museum, go out for ice cream and play lots of
games! They are the highlight of my life!
Another thing I am excited about is going
to market next month to see the latest and greatest
in furniture design. I will be bringing back the
latest lines of furniture and accessories to share with
you for your projects!
I have also been getting ready for the holiday season
where I will be doing a lot of seasonal decorating for
my clients. It's a blast to see all of the new holiday
trends!
Until next time, Happy Decorating!

Black and white is always chic and since we saw
a
lot of it last spring, of course it is high style in home
decor now as well. It is a classic combo but can do a
lot to lend contemporary flair to your design.
Although it might be too stark (and too hard to
maintain) for some of you, here are a few easy ideas
for you to punch up a room with black and white:
Paint used furniture black, which helps hide the
flaws. If there is fabric in the piece, reupholster in
white.
Painting a mirror or picture frame black gives an
old frame new life.
Instead of rings or hooks, use black ribbon to
hang and tie back white drapes or shower
curtains.
Accessorize by using white candles in wooden
candlesticks that are painted black or vice-
versa.
Clean up a small, busy, colorful room with white
bedding trimmed in black.
Paint lighting fixtures white and add black
lampshades for a modern twist.
Set a table in black and white. Black or white
tableware is economical and easy to obtain. Mix and
match the pieces or set black dishes on white linens
or white dishes on black linens. Quick and very chic.
Both combinations look terrific with stainless steel,
silver and silverplate.

| Feng Shui Tip of The Month |
 |
|
Art is used as a tool to relax, motivate, and inspire.
It should be positive, colorful, and abundant. Avoid
artwork that depicts bleak scenes, depression,
poverty, death, or lonely images. To open up the
space and create feelings of freedom as you "look
out the window," use seascapes or landscapes.
These scenes help bring the outdoors in and soothe
the soul. Also, colorful gardens, flowers and trees are
great feng shui.

proud to be starting her fifth year of transforming
homes in the Boston area. Melanie has gained
valuable skills and knowledge through continuing

construction.
Just in case you did not already know, Melanie is a
part of the Channel 7 design team with Chikage
Windler. For their last project, they
transformed a dull 80's bathroom into a hip and fun

what a little paint and imagination can do.....
